A German V2 rocket leaves the Science Museum store at Wroughton destined for the Science Museum in London. Some protesters along the route thought it was one of the Cruse Missiles which at the time were based at Greenham Common. Selection from the Archive:

A reflection on 30 years ago.

105.5 gets MBE
The community radio station Swindon 105.5 FM was presented the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (the MBE for the voluntary sector) by the Duke of Kent during a visit to the town. Chloe Leadbeater, a young photographer for the agency, covered the event and filed these images. She even got a selfie with Jahméne Douglas

Neighhhhh you can’t go under there!!
Horse box gets jammed under Whitehouse Bridge, the most hit bridge in UK. The compact horse transporter was empty at the time and caused traffic chaos throughout the town during the evening rush. Railtrack did a demonstration of what happens when a bus hits a bridge. Other victims
