Opening of Bluebird toys 22-5-1984

In 1980 Torquil Norman (seen in the pictures with Mayor Harry Garrett) founded Bluebird Toys with his first product being the now famous Big Yellow Teapot House.
Breaking with tradition and creating a new architectural style of dolls house, Bluebird Toys came up with one of the first ‘container’ houses creating this light and colourful family dolls home.
In later years the company was famous for the Big Red Fun Bus and Big Jumbo Fun Plane, A La Carte Kitchen, Polly Pocket, the larger Lucy Locket and the Mighty Max range, as well as the invention of the infamous plastic lunch box.
