Maria Appino tries out the new Ropeway in Lydiard Park Swindon The Adventurer course, aimed at children aged three and over, is being opened by Jungle Parc, and is the first stage of an aerial adventure centre which is being created at the Swindon Borough Council-owned country park. The Adventurer Course offers a high wire tree-top adventure in the woodlands next to the children’s play area at Lydiard Park. The course incorporates 50 different activities including rope bridges, zip lines and cargo nets so children can experience the thrill of swinging, gliding and climbing through the trees and trekking through the woodlands at a tree top level, all in a very safe and well-instructed environment. Cllr Garry Perkins, the Swindon Borough Council Cabinet Member responsible for Lydiard Park, said: “It’s fantastic that this new visitor attraction is opening this weekend at Lydiard Park – just in time for Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend and the school half-term holidays. “Swindon Borough Council is pleased to welcome Jungle Parc, one of the market leaders in aerial adventure attractions, to this site to provide a unique and exciting adventure course to complement the range of activities already offered at this beautiful, historic park.” Jungle Parc have two centres in the UK in Liverpool and Northampton and are also in France and Spain. Maria Reynolds, Director of Jungle Parc said: “Jungle Parc is a family business and creates bespoke courses specially for each individual country park. No courses are the same, making each site completely different and very exciting. “The Adventurer Course offers young people a challenging, fun and safe outdoor experience – they can visit as part of a family group and special packages will also be offered to schools and youth groups. Our new centre in Lydiard Park will be expanded in the autumn with the opening of an X-plorer course creating a complete family attraction.”
