Duke of Edinburgh open REME’s new home at Lyneham.

As royal visits go this was quite low key, but true to form Prince Phillip turned on the charm and the one liners.

The Prince was there to name the former RAF base as the new home for REME (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) after himself: The Duke of Edinburgh Barracks.

He waked a short distance to the plaque meeting families and children from Lyneham Primary School as he went.

And for the one liner:

As he was about to pull the cord to unveil the plaque, Philip described himself as the world’s most experienced plaque unveiler.
