No waste as Hill’s helps Patsey.

Hills’ Christmas Care

A local charity providing temporary shelter for the homeless at Christmas received a welcome boost today from long-term supporters the Hills Group.

Swindon-based Hills started supporting Christmas Care eleven years ago, and has contributed each year in various ways. This year Hills’ employees have taken up a collection of non-perishable goods along with a donation of £200 for the charity.  Added to that Hills is providing essential waste collection and removal services to the charity, valued at around £800 per year.

Tony Hill, director of Hills UK and Mike Webster, group director of Hills Waste Solutions, invited Christmas Care chairman Patsy Maloney to Hills’ County Park headquarters to present Patsy with the cheque and donations, and to find out how this year’s preparations are progressing.

The Christmas Care charity provides a temporary shelter over the festive season which has helped hundreds of people over the past 26 years. It can accommodate around 70 guests each day where they are given food and hot drinks. They are also able to have a shower, a complete change of clothing and footwear. The Christmas Care shelter is located at the Queen’s Drive Methodist Church in Swindon.
